


Ema Ferreira (1999) is a Portuguese composer, sound artist and multimedia artist, born in Covilhã and based at Porto. She has a great interest in electroacoustic music, sound art, and the relationship between image, sound, and interactivity in the audio and audiovisual contexts. Her projects have been focusing on themes related to the human experience and its inherent perceptions: of other entities, of ourselves as distorted by technology, of silence and noise, of memory.
She holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Composition from ESMAE-IPP, and a master’s degree in Interactive Media and Systems from ESMAD-IPP. Since 2023 she has been working as a cultural producer at Sekoia – Artes Performativas. Since October 2024. has been collaborating with Digitópia – Casa da Música on both educational and artistic projects
Between 2021 and 2022 she was an artist-in-residence at the European project IMPROVISA – Life in Motion. In 2024 she was an artist-in-residence at the 2nd edition of ANIMAIS (CADA) and presented at the ARTeFACTo2024MACAO conference. Currently she is part of the project "Ecos do Funchal", in collaboration with Funchal Guitar Quartet and supported by the Funchal Artistic Creation Grant; and she is co-creating "Prosthetic Feedback", in collaboration with Daniel Martins and supported by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.
To date, her works and projects have been presented in Portugal, Scotland, Sweden, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United States of America.
