Ema Ferreira is a Portuguese composer and multimedia artist, born in Covilhã. She has a great interest in electroacoustic music, sound art, and the relationship between image, sound, and interactivity in the audio and audiovisual context.
She holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Composition from ESMAE-IPP, and a master’s degree in Interactive Media and Systems from ESMAD-IPP. Since 2023, she has also been working as a production assistant at Sekoia – Artes Performativas.
Between 2021 and 2022 she was an artist-in-residence at the European project IMPROVISA – Life in Motion and in 2024 she was an artist-in-residence at the 2nd edition of ANIMAIS (CADA). Currently she is part of the project "Ecos do Funchal", in collaboration with Funchal Guitar Quartet and supported by the Funchal Artistic Creation Grant; and she is co-creating "Prosthetic Feedback", in collaboration with Daniel Martins and supported by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.
To date, her works and projects have been presented in Portugal, Scotland, Sweden, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United States of America.
